Fix exterior and interior foundation walls

Homes built decades ago have many times been renovated over and over again. Many of these homes never had hand excavated french drains installed, and these homes may contain foundation damage on the exterior and interior of the home caused by groundwater.

The best way to deal with this situation is to repair the foundation on the exterior and then install hand excavated french drains to protect the foundation and below grade levels from groundwater entry.

Raising the grade at the foundation and the installation of hand excavated french drains will prevent foundation damage.

Most often the damage caused by groundwater was never fixed or poorly repaired, and needs proper renovation.

One of the most overlooked aspects of home renovation is the foundation, which may contain holes and cracks from groundwater damage, or broken skim coating from days when masons did not use the modern methods used today.

These cracks can be fixed with chisel work and repair to remove crumbling and loose concrete and bond a patch into the foundation. A licensed, bonded and insured mason/drainage contractor should do this expandable concrete work to properly seal the foundation and give it structural strength.

After the removal of all loose concrete and filling chiseled out cracks, another skim coat with masonry adhesives can be applied, giving the foundation a long lasting, newly finished and painted look.

This masonry work is both structural and cosmetic. Foundation renovation can stop or prevent foundation settling problems, as well as further foundation facial damage, and provide your structure with a cosmetic look and better curb appeal.

Basements can be restored in the same manner, and when skim coated, sponge trowel finished, and painted with drylock paint, these basements and exterior foundations look literally better than new.
