Problems with water in the crawlspace or basement can be solved
When the sky seems to be falling, and fear and loathing seems to take over the mood of the day, and water in the crawlspace or basement is the problem, remember that groundwater problems are best solved with hand excavated french drains with exposed river rock.
Nothing works better than starting with a clean aquaduct engineered with a flat bottom. A hand excavated bottom and sides within the hand excavated french drain is what you need to start with.
Engineering the proper clean grade, and using clean 3/4″-1 1/2″ river rock, perforated pipe, without a sock on it, and weed cloth, pretty much fills out the list of priorities. Then you must do things in the correct cosmetic and functional order for success.
For best results, consult and contract with a licensed, bonded and insured drainage contractor in your area.
See articles on this site that explain this very old home drainage science in detail, and the whys and ways of hand excavated french drains. Water in the crawlspace is groundwater that was once rainwater in almost all cases.
Whether the groundwater came from the roofwater, or from the rain falling on the ground next to your home, the removal of that rainwater turned groundwater should be done with proper rain drain dishcarges and hand excavated french drains with perforated pipe laid on an engineered grade of 2″ or more, sloping the groundwater away on a flat hard bottom surface to the daylighted vent, drywell, or retention pond for best results.
Handle those groundwater problems with hand excavated french drains.
